Decisions

My garments are usually inspired by the fabric. I consider myself more of a knitted textile designer than a garment or fashion designer. Yes, I design garments, but my passion is the fabric, and the fabric is what influences the fashion I design.

I have a daytime event that I'm attending in about a week.I wanted to make something new for the occasion -- not formal or fancy, just simple and a little bit dressy. I really liked the yarn used in a swatch I'd designed previously, but I wanted something a little simpler in structure. Not sure how simplifying can produce something more complicated, but unfortunately, that's what happened as I experimented with the yarns.
Simplification (!) version 1
Version 2, not as many tucks per needle and different rack sequence
This was the original, which I love, but it will be better suited for another project.

The new swatches were not what I wanted for this project. I do have something in mind for version 1, and version 2 needs some reworking. The original swatch will wait for the right project to come along.

As someone who enjoys creating original stitch patterns, I did something I usually don't do:  I picked up my copy of the little Passap Duomatic 80/S stitch book (the Passap knitter's equivalent of a stitch dictionary), browsed carefully, and chose to use the stitch pattern at the bottom of page 68!

Here's my version:

The set-up is simple; the pattern works nicely with the plain jersey I'm also intending to use. Now I just have to decide what exactly I'm making with it!

    1. The stitches in the book don't have any names. Are you a Passap knitter? As I mentioned it's on the bottom of page 68 in the little DM-80/S stitch book that comes with the DM-80. Hope you find what you need!
