Still a work in progress

If I could just find the right buttons (and sew them on, of course), I could announce the completion of my latest sweater. A cardigan. It's coral and knitted of 5/2 mercerized cotton. If you follow me on Facebook, then you make have seen the original swatch.

This detail shows the alternating stripes of reverse stockinette and a honeycomb brioche. The placket is knitted at the same time as each front panel, so it's not necessary to add them later. Even the neck band is knitted with the front pieces.

The stitch pattern design creates the automatic scallops, but just as with a shawl, it's good to pin them to shape when blocking.

Although it's April, it's too hot already today in NYC to go shopping for buttons. Maybe tomorrow.
