It's kind of like a Secret Santa, except you know who's sending the surprise. You just don't know when.
Or maybe it's more like a chain letter, the good kind, where you mail a picture postcard to a stranger far away and receive one (or more) from a stranger from somewhere else. I first read about a "Paying It Forward" blog post yesterday on jellidonut's blog, who read about it on Eskimimi Makes. But I ended up leaving my comment on Wool Durham's blog.
I'm a little late to this party, but if you haven't read a "Paying It Forward" blog post yet, here's how it works. I am quoting Wool Durham, who's quoting those who have gone before:
1. I will send a surprise gift to the first three commenters on this post. The gift will be handmade by me. It will be sent sometime in the next 365 days. It will be a surprise. We all love getting surprises in the mail, right?I happily promise to handcraft a surprise gift to the first three commenters on this post, and I promise to send them anywhere in the world. (I'll be sure to mark "gift" on the customs form if sending internationally.)
2. To sign up and receive a gift, you must play along, too. Pay it Forward on your blog, by promising to make a surprise for the first three people who comment on the post.
3. You must have a blog (that is updated, as I will blog stalk you to find the right gift for you).
4. After commenting here, you must repost this or something similar to your blog in 48 hours. If not, I will chose the next person who comments.
Have fun and play along. Pass this on. Pay it forward.

ETA Feel free to add a comment even if there are more than three, just in case someone drops out. If you miss my top three, try to leave a comment on another blog. Also, my replies don't count as comments. :)

Well, I truly didn't expect to have to opportunity to be commentor #3. Do I count or has this progressed beyond 3 already?
ReplyDeleteRegardless, spiffy idea...and I love the original "Pay it Forward" concept - more so to see it adapted to handcrafting. (You've just tripled (quadrupled??) my planned treadmill reading today!).
You are officially commentor #3! LOL re the treadmill reading! Please send your mailing address to contactme (at) ojolly.net so that I can surprise you.
