Works-in-process

Many years ago, as a stitch pattern designer, I would have stopped at the swatch. Not any more. My swatches are now a means to... well... what is now called a finished object. Here are a few of the designs that I have in my current swatch stash.

I love when a stitch pattern is interesting on each side; I especially love it for scarves. Here are the face and the reverse (or vice versa) of one such racked rib pattern. Knitted in wool, I will be using other colors for the finished versions. Click for enlargement.

Knitted in cotton, the swatch below is made with a pattern card that I had originally made for a zigzag texture. This time I have knitted it as a two-color mosaic. It will eventually be knitted in wool and most likely used for socks along with another mosaic.

Experiments in racking and needles left out of action lead to the next swatch. Currently knitted in perle cotton (and getting rather squished in the scanner), I will most likely work it up in bamboo or a bamboo blend for a shawl.

  1. I would be very interested when your bottom swatch becomes a shawl!
